Thicket encourages the viewer to walk around and take in the interplay of light and angles. In order to stand, Thicket incorporates a network of supporting structure set up along different planes.
Your new table is reminiscent of the Eames dining room chair through the legs, if not in material, then in structure, although obviously you’ve chosen asymmetry and irregular angles. Is this reflective of a broad school of thought in design, or did you choose this specifically?
My apologies if the Eames chair isn’t the inspiration for this piece. Knock-off copies of it are everywhere in Australia (we’re looking at new apartments right now), and it’s hard not to see it’s influence.
When I was in the design process that wasn’t one of the sources of inspiration, however, I was interested in designing a piece that had a modernist flavor to it. Most of my designs seem to have some chaotic element to them and this one is much the same.
